Close
by are North Wales beaches and Conwy Marina. The beautiful Conwy
valley runs south to the spectacular glaciated mountains of
Snowdonia. We can give expert advice and loan maps to guests
who wish to explore the area which offers some of the best walking
in Britain.
Across
the narrow estuary is Deganwy with a reputation as one of the
sunniest spots in Britain.
Behind
the town is Conwy Mountian with it's iron age hill fort and
hut circles. The walk from beautiful Sychnant Pass, along the
mountain ridge and down to Conwy harbour is perhaps the best
one hour walk in the country.
On
the other side of the bay is the holiday town of Llandudno with
it's renowned promenade and marine drive around the spectacular
Great Orme peninsular. On the Great Orme are the 4000 year old
copper mines that are open to the public.
Llandudno
also has the best shopping in north Wales.
Only
four miles away is the famous National Trust garden of Bodnant.
Guided walks in the mountains under professional instruction
can be arranged. Good fishing is available in the sea, lakes
and at local fisheries. Nearby is an excellent area for mountain
biking.
There are five golf courses and for keen bird watchers there
are a number of RSPB sites locally as the area has so many different
habitats.
Conwy is an excellent 'gateway' to Snowdonia National Park and
for those travelling to Ireland.
